Marija Pejčinović Burić, secretary general of the Council of Europe, hails the signing of the 15th “Strasbourg, European Capital” Three-Year Contract for 2024-2026.
Elle indique que “The signing of this contract reflects a strong commitment to the Council of Europe”, says Ms Burić, “particularly through three projects in the field of human rights that aim to respond to the decline in democratic values we are currently witnessing. I am referring in particular to our Observatory on History Teaching in Europe, which is tasked with promoting and strengthening our understanding of democratic culture through high-quality history teaching; the Council of Europe Model Negotiation — CoEMoN — an event intended to educate political science students about the role, functioning and different missions of our organisation; and — by way of conclusion — our World Forum for Democracy, which takes place in November, and which provides a unique platform for debating responses to the challenges facing our democracies“.
