After six years of renovation, the Strasbourg Zoological Museum will reopen its doors to the public on 19 September 2025.
The inauguration was attended by Jacques Witkowski, Préfet of the Grand Est region, Irène Weiss, representing the European Union, Jean-Philippe Vetter, the European Collectivity of Alsace, Pia Imbs, President of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg, and Frédérique Berrod, President of the University of Strasbourg.
A major project made possible thanks to financial support from the State (nearly €11 million), accompanied by the European Union, the Grand Est Region, the European Collectivity of Alsace, the Eurometropolis and the City of Strasbourg, notably via the Three-Year Strasbourg, European Capital Contract🔹 €18.5 million invested in order to reinvent the museum, rooted in today’s environmental issues🔹 More than 1,800 specimens on display from the 1.2 million of the collection, with a captivating first temporary exhibition: ‘BiodiverCité, Les animaux de la ville’ (BiodiverCity, Animals of the City)
